In the past, steel was used as the material for footbridge stairs. However, corrosion due to aging and maintenance painting are inevitable problems concerning with maintenance. Therefore, Footbridge stairway were constructed with FRP which does not corrode due to rust, require no painting and reduce maintenance costs.
Since the FRP material itself retains its color, maintenance costs due to paint removal can be significantly reduced. In addition, FRP is much lighter than steel and moreover, safety is also considered during construction. (For the safe use of equipment users, the stairs steps are made anti-slip.)
